Workshops ¨C Global Smart Grid Development

Workshop Leader
Doug Houseman, Principal, Smart Energy Alliance
This two day workshop will provide a working environment to explore what is going on in the world and how it might be applied in China. The workshop will draw from work done by the US Modern Grid Initiative, the CEATI ¡°Distribution Utility Technology Roadmap 2025¡±, and the European Smart Grid Initiative. In addition it will draw from the International Energy Agency project cluster for smart grid and smart metering.

The workshop will start with an exercise to look at future possibilities for the grid in China. From there the workshop will look at the work done by the various smart grid projects around the world. Using the input from this review and the future possibilities, the participants in the workshop will work through the technical issues that need to be handled by the grid in the future in China.

Taking the issues that were selected the participants will work through what might be done to manage the issues that were developed earlier in the workshop. Materials will be provided to the workshop that include the lists of technology that have been developed by the various projects, best practices and outcomes from experiments and trials that have been run by the industry.
