Job Description
Communication Systems is a department within the Strategic Solutions Division. Offices for the unit reside in both Alameda, CA and at the corporate HQ in Chicago, IL. The Software Engineer (Networking) will report to the Communication Product Development Manager, will be located in Chicago, IL and has responsibilities including:
- Design and implement new features associated with wireless networking
- Diagnose and provide bug fixes focused on routing issues
- Work productively without close day-to-day supervision
Job Requirements:
- Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering or Computer Science
- 5-10 years of experience in design and development of layer-3 (IP) networking products. Including:
- Design, coding, testing verification, validation and support of embedded microprocessor/microcontroller code
- Real-time embedded software
- Media Access Control (MAC) and networking/routing protocols, especially those based on Internet Protocol (IP).
- Experience with ad hoc routing protocols, ideally including AODV
- Bench and field testing communications systems
- Simulation of networks, for example using OpNet or NS 2
- Examining and debugging significant existing code base
- Embedded Linux platforms
- Documentation of software features (technical content generation)
Desirable Additional Qualifications:
- Coding experience in C and C++
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering or Computer Science
- Experience with ARM7 and ARM9 general purpose processors
